A Thought for the Day

Leap Essence’s Thought for the Day is a daily meditation for those in recovery or dealing with addiction to alcohol or drugs.

*May 27*

We feel a healthy sense of power when we accept responsibility for all of our actions.

One of the first things we learn in this program is that we can’t control other people—no matter how hard we try.

If someone wants to use drugs, they will. If they lose their job or end up in jail, that’s not on us. We’re not responsible for their choices or their circumstances.

But here’s the powerful part: while we’re powerless over their lives, we do have power over our own.

Growing in this program means letting go of the blame game. We stop pointing fingers and start owning how we think, act, and respond.

At first, that kind of responsibility can feel like a lot—but over time, it actually builds us up. It boosts our confidence and reminds us that we’re capable of change. And the more we practice showing up for ourselves, the more we grow.

Little by little, we start to feel stronger, more grounded, and more in control of the one life we can shape—our own.

Today’s Affirmation:

I will appreciate my opportunities for growing up today. I’ll have many of them!

A Life of My Own

A Life Of My Own

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own by Karen Casey,— a small but powerful book full of daily reflections, meditations, and prayers, offering practical spiritual guidance for living a clean, sober, and more grounded life.

Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. With over 20 years of experience speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, she has dedicated her life to helping others. Her own recovery journey began more than 30 years ago in Twelve-Step groups, and she’s deeply passionate about supporting others on the same path.
