Surrendering to God’s caring plan eases our walk today.

When we first hear the idea that a Higher Power is in charge—not just of our own lives, but of our loved ones and all the situations we’ve been trying so hard to control; that is a tough pill to swallow.

We hesitate.

We cling to the belief that we have to fix everything.

I mean, if we stop begging someone to quit drinking, will they actually stop?

If we stop constantly reminding our kids about who they hang out with, what if something bad happens?

It’s scary to let go.

But what a relief it is when we finally do.

When we stop trying to play manager of the universe and realize—we’re not in charge, and we never were.

There is a plan.

For our life.

For theirs.

For everyone’s.

And we’re not left out of it.

We just couldn’t see it before because we were so caught up in trying to control everything ourselves.

Now, we can breathe a little easier. We can trust that the people we love are in much better hands, which is God’s hands, not ours.

As Step Three suggests, I will turn my will and my life over to God today and enjoy these twenty-four hours.
