A Thought for the Day

Leap Essence’s Thought for the Day is a daily meditation for those in recovery or dealing with addiction to alcohol or drugs.

*June 12*

Every experience can benefit us if we believe in its value.

It’s hard to imagine how growing up in an abusive home or going through a painful marriage could be anything but damaging.

The idea that something good could come from that kind of pain, sounds almost impossible—especially in the beginning.

Even when someone we trust in the program says, “There’s a silver lining in every experience,” we might roll our eyes or silently disagree.

But over time, as we start to lean into the principles of recovery and healing, something shifts. We begin to see things more clearly. We realize that even our hardest moments taught us something, about strength, boundaries, resilience, or compassion.

Lessons we probably wouldn’t have learned any other way.

That kind of insight is powerful.

It helps us release the grip the past had on us. It even opens the door to forgiveness, not because what happened was okay, but because we understand that those who hurt us were acting from their own pain.

Looking back, I can see now: the painful parts of my story weren’t pointless.

They shaped me.

They served a purpose.

Today’s Affirmation:

I will come to believe in their value, and I will trust that all my experiences today are right for me now. My Higher Power will help me through them.

A Life of My Own

A Life Of My Own

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own by Karen Casey,— a small but powerful book full of daily reflections, meditations, and prayers, offering practical spiritual guidance for living a clean, sober, and more grounded life.

Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. With over 20 years of experience speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, she has dedicated her life to helping others. Her own recovery journey began more than 30 years ago in Twelve-Step groups, and she’s deeply passionate about supporting others on the same path.
