*June 14*
We hear what works at good meetings.
When we’re new to meetings, it’s totally normal to feel unsure about what’s okay to share.
That’s where the old-timers come in, they’ve been through it and can gently guide us on what works best in the room.
Sometimes the pain we’re feeling is so fresh and intense, all we want to do is vent about the drinker in our life.
And while that’s understandable, a support person can help us understand how meetings work and how focusing on our own healing is where real growth begins.
We keep coming back to meetings because we need ongoing support and regular reminders about how to actually live the Steps, not just talk about them.
It’s way too easy to slip back into our old habits.
That’s why hearing how others apply a Step or use a slogan in their daily lives can be the very lifeline we didn’t know we needed.

Today’s Affirmation:
I’ll keep growing and changing as long as I am in the program. Helping others gives me practice in using what I have learned.

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own by Karen Casey,— a small but powerful book full of daily reflections, meditations, and prayers, offering practical spiritual guidance for living a clean, sober, and more grounded life.
Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. With over 20 years of experience speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, she has dedicated her life to helping others. Her own recovery journey began more than 30 years ago in Twelve-Step groups, and she’s deeply passionate about supporting others on the same path.
