Making the decision to love gets easier with practice.

We’ve built habits around the little things—like brushing our teeth, combing our hair, or setting an alarm. But it’s easy to forget that even those simple routines were once brand new to us.

Good thing we can do the same with the things that really matter.

Take love, for example—toward ourselves and others. That, too, can become part of our daily rhythm.

It might seem tough to love sometimes. Maybe it’s because love makes us feel exposed, like we’re putting ourselves at risk. We worry that if it’s not returned, we’ll feel rejected or small. But that mindset overcomplicates love.

What if we believed we’ve always been loved—unconditionally, by a Higher Power?

That belief can ease out some of the fear.

Through this journey, we’re learning that love isn’t just about grand gestures, it’s really just another word for acceptance.

And once we stop overthinking it, love starts to feel simpler. Before long, showing love can become as natural as saying hello.

Today’s Affirmation:

I will be “accepting” and thus cultivate feelings of love at every opportunity today.

A Life of My Own

A Life Of My Own

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own by Karen Casey,— a small but powerful book full of daily reflections, meditations, and prayers, offering practical spiritual guidance for living a clean, sober, and more grounded life.

Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. With over 20 years of experience speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, she has dedicated her life to helping others. Her own recovery journey began more than 30 years ago in Twelve-Step groups, and she’s deeply passionate about supporting others on the same path.
