*May 1*
Real friendships grow in places where people come together.
Most of our closest friends had no idea what was really going on in our families.
We’d lie to our bosses to explain missed work, and even kept things hidden from other family members.
We got really good at making excuses—anything to cover for the addict.
But here, in these rooms, people actually get it.
We can speak honestly and be heard without judgment.
They’ve been through it too, and they have real wisdom to share.
For the first time, we’re surrounded by true friends who understand. And the best part? We don’t have to face any of this alone anymore.

Today’s Affirmation:
I will feel strong and capable today if I am willing to listen to others and God when I have a problem to solve.

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own by Karen Casey,— a small but powerful book full of daily reflections, meditations, and prayers, offering practical spiritual guidance for living a clean, sober, and more grounded life.
Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. With over 20 years of experience speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, she has dedicated her life to helping others. Her own recovery journey began more than 30 years ago in Twelve-Step groups, and she’s deeply passionate about supporting others on the same path.
