Staying in the present diminishes worries
Worrying about tomorrow, or even next year, just pulls us away from the present moment.
When you really think about it, this moment is the only one God has promised us. That’s why leaning into the Third Step each day helps ease all that future stress.
Whatever’s coming, God will be there too.
That’s a promise.
Sure, letting go of worry isn’t easy, especially when it’s been our go-to for years. But it is possible. And while we’re at it, we can hand over our problems to God too.
When we slow down and live one breath at a time, fear starts to fade.
Breathing in our Higher Power’s presence helps calm the chaos inside. And hearing others share how this works in their own lives gives us hope that it can work for us too.
So next time your loved one relapses or your boss unfairly blames you for something, try to pause. Trust that God’s got you, and whatever happens next will be handled when the time comes.

Today’s Affirmation:
I will be free of worry today if I use the Third Step and believe that God will take care of me.

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own by Karen Casey,— a small but powerful book full of daily reflections, meditations, and prayers, offering practical spiritual guidance for living a clean, sober, and more grounded life.
Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. With over 20 years of experience speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, she has dedicated her life to helping others. Her own recovery journey began more than 30 years ago in Twelve-Step groups, and she’s deeply passionate about supporting others on the same path.
