*May 16*
Our principles determine our behavior.
One of the things that’s gotten us stuck in the past is letting other people’s behavior control our actions and forgetting what we actually believe in.
If that person starts using again, we get angry and hurt.
If he doesn’t come home like he said he would, we panic and assume the worst.
We’ve spent years reacting to what others do, without stopping to think.
It is exhausting.
But the program teaches us there’s a better way.
We can choose how we want to respond. Even just taking a pause, a single moment before reacting can help us take back control.
It gives us space to remember what matters to us. And when we start living in line with our own values, things get simpler. Decisions feel clearer. Life starts to make more sense—one thoughtful choice at a time.

Today’s Affirmation:
I will share my gratitude for my sanity with someone else today. Perhaps my sharing will inspire that person to seek a better life too.

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own by Karen Casey,— a small but powerful book full of daily reflections, meditations, and prayers, offering practical spiritual guidance for living a clean, sober, and more grounded life.
Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. With over 20 years of experience speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, she has dedicated her life to helping others. Her own recovery journey began more than 30 years ago in Twelve-Step groups, and she’s deeply passionate about supporting others on the same path.
