A Thought for the Day

Leap Essence’s Thought for the Day is a daily meditation for those in recovery or dealing with addiction to alcohol or drugs.

Check in with us every morning to read a new passage and find your inspiration for the day.

*May 31*

We can be free of turmoil and frustration.

When we’re too caught up in other people’s lives, that’s often a sign of codependency.

For a long time, our self-worth was tied to how others felt or acted—and now, we’re learning to change that.

One of the biggest parts of recovery is learning how to lovingly step back.

It’s not our job to make sure a partner gets to work, to play peacemaker between a parent and sibling, or to cover for someone’s drinking.

As tough as it is, sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is nothing at all.

Letting go doesn’t mean we don’t care—it means we’re finally giving others the dignity to walk their own path.

And we don’t have to figure it out alone, we’ve got examples of others in recovery who’ve done the same.

Today’s Affirmation:

Today I can recognize the boundaries between me and others. How they behave is not my concern, and it’s not my job to fix it.

A Life of My Own

A Life Of My Own

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own by Karen Casey,— a small but powerful book full of daily reflections, meditations, and prayers, offering practical spiritual guidance for living a clean, sober, and more grounded life.

Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. With over 20 years of experience speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, she has dedicated her life to helping others. Her own recovery journey began more than 30 years ago in Twelve-Step groups, and she’s deeply passionate about supporting others on the same path.
