A Thought for the Day

Leap Essence’s Thought for the Day is a daily meditation for those in recovery or dealing with addiction to alcohol or drugs.

*May 6*

Conflicts can be avoided.

We often find ourselves in conflicts, not because of others, but because of how we react.

The truth is, we always have a choice:

  • We can choose to walk away when things start to heat up.
  • We can decide that staying calm and finding peace is more important than proving a point or “winning” an argument, and…
  • We can take a moment to pause and ask for guidance when things feel tense.

At first, it’s tough. It’s hard not to want the last word.

Many of us have linked our self-worth to being right, and we might think that if others agree with us, it means we’re valuable or smart.

So, we try to persuade them with logic, passion, or well-crafted arguments, and when it works, it only fuels our desire to do it again next time.

But the real change happens when we realize that everyone has the right to their own perspective, and opinion. When we understand that each person is on their own journey, we can let go of the need to control or convince—and that’s when true peace begins.

Today’s Affirmation:

This journey is helping me understand others better. Today, I’ll choose to walk away from any chance to argue. I recognize that the other person’s perspective is just as valid as mine.

A Life of My Own

A Life Of My Own

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own by Karen Casey,— a small but powerful book full of daily reflections, meditations, and prayers, offering practical spiritual guidance for living a clean, sober, and more grounded life.

Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. With over 20 years of experience speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, she has dedicated her life to helping others. Her own recovery journey began more than 30 years ago in Twelve-Step groups, and she’s deeply passionate about supporting others on the same path.
