*May 7*

Our leaders are but trusted servants.

Every Twelve Step group has its own vibe—just like the people in it. Some groups are mixed, while others are made for men, women, or the LGBTQIA+ community.

With so many options, there’s usually a group out there that fits your needs.

Still, it’s a good idea to give any group a few tries before deciding if it’s the right one for you.

At first, the person leading the meeting might not be in alignment with you, and that’s okay. They’re just a volunteer doing their best to help the group. Their personal style or opinions don’t reflect the whole group.

Truth is, you won’t connect with everyone in every meeting you attend—and that’s totally normal. It’s kind of like any other group setting in life. But even the people we don’t immediately vibe with can still teach us something.

Just by showing up and being around others on a similar path can help us grow in so many ways we don’t always expect.

Today’s Affirmation:

Walking away from a group just because I don’t vibe with one person is short-sighted. Sometimes, the biggest lessons come from the people and situations that challenge me the most.

A Life of My Own

A Life Of My Own

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own by Karen Casey,— a small but powerful book full of daily reflections, meditations, and prayers, offering practical spiritual guidance for living a clean, sober, and more grounded life.

Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. With over 20 years of experience speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, she has dedicated her life to helping others. Her own recovery journey began more than 30 years ago in Twelve-Step groups, and she’s deeply passionate about supporting others on the same path.
