Accepting that we can’t control other people is a huge weight off our shoulders.

At first, the idea of “powerlessness” can feel confusing—even frustrating.

What does it really mean?

For so long, we may have tried to argue, persuade, or guilt others into changing–spending so much energy trying to manage things that were never ours to control.

Letting go of that habit tho can feel scary.

We might wonder, Well, now what?

But over time—especially by watching how others navigate this—we start learning how to live for ourselves.

What once felt selfish now feels like freedom.

And with that freedom, something beautiful happens: we begin to see our own life more clearly.

We have more time, more peace, and a growing sense of purpose—all because we’ve finally turned that energy inward.

Today’s Affirmation:

I will relish my freedom from the lives of loved ones today. I’ll focus on my behavior only.

A Life of My Own

A Life Of My Own

Today’s thought of the day is inspired by A Life of My Own by Karen Casey,— a small but powerful book full of daily reflections, meditations, and prayers, offering practical spiritual guidance for living a clean, sober, and more grounded life.

Karen Casey is also the author of Each Day a New Beginning. With over 20 years of experience speaking on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, she has dedicated her life to helping others. Her own recovery journey began more than 30 years ago in Twelve-Step groups, and she’s deeply passionate about supporting others on the same path.
